This year Freetown Village is partnering with Storytelling Arts of Indiana and their on-line monthly Indy Story Slam.

Indy Story Slam is a fun night for storytellers of every skill level, or want-to-be storytellers, to tell a true story based on the monthly theme. The theme for October is “Near-Death Experiences”.

The rules of #IndyStorySlam are as follows: Stories must be up to five minutes long, personal, true, told in first person, and based on the theme, which can be interpreted narrowly or broadly. We just ask tellers not to use props or read from the page. The slam judges, time and scorekeepers will be predetermined because the event is virtual. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three tellers of the slam.

  • IF YOU WANT TO TELL A STORY: Send email to register by October 19th, 5:00 p.m.

    • This month we’ll be live at Garfield Brewery (2310 Shelby St). Come early to eat dinner and then enjoy the stories whether or not you plan to tell a story. We will need judges and a timekeeper.

  • IF YOU JUST WANT TO WATCH/LISTEN: Indy Story Slam will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube.
